Shailaja Vaidya, 24, a Final Year Engineering student, returns to her native village Shibarga to fulfil the promise to reopen the school that her ailing father Annaji Vaidya, a retired school teacher, started after taking voluntary retirement because he always wanted to educate the children of Shibarga who were whiling away their time. Shailaja does manage to reopen the school but has a tough time managing just 12 children. To add to her woes, an officer from the Education Department (ED) informs Shailaja that all schools with less than 20 students would be shut down and they had better gather 20 students within two months before the next Inspection. The present students and Shailaja are worried.Shailaja seeks help from her father’s close friend Antookaka who organizes a meeting of the parents of the students. Shailaja addresses this meeting but she realizes that she has not been able to make much of an impression on them. Shailaja introduces innovative teaching methods, which bring in the siblings of the present students and she manages to get 20 students. Ailing Annaji also recovers and returns to Shibarga and is warmly welcomed by the students. The Education Inspector who visits Sharada Vidya Mandir also seems very impressed by the students who answer each of the questions asked by him and lauds Shailaja’s efforts. Shailaja is overwhelmed and extremely happy that she’s been able to fulfil the promise made by her to her father. The Education Inspector declares that Sharada Vidya Mandir will never close down.

Which is the same as one’s love of the universal mother. Swamy finds himself humble and speechless before Deva and thus joins with him in his commitment to the earth.

Located in the backwaters of a dam, Sita Parvata is an island slowly submerging due to the rains. The government succeeds in evacuating the residents by giving them compensation for the properties they own. The village temple priest Duggajja, his son Ganapa, and his daughter-in-law Nagi find it impossible to leave their homeland and make a living with the meagre compensation given by the government. They have but a small hut, which earns them a compensation of ₹25,000. In Ganapa's own words, the compensation can give them food and shelter, but cannot compensate for the love and respect of their people. On the island, they are important people, but outside, they would be one among hundreds of families struggling to make a living. Centered around this complex theme, the film narrates the struggles of the family and how ultimately in the end they manage to continue life on the island.

Rangajji lends the money Subbanna needs, thinking that Subbanna might help her find her husband's close friend Mr.Padmanabiah in Bangalore. Subbanna leaves for Bangalore. After a few months Rangajji leaves for Bangalore along with Murty only to receive another cold welcome from Subbanna. She tries to find Mr.Padmanabiah with Murty's help. When her search ends, she comes to know that Mr.Padmanabiah is no more. Her last ray of hope dims out and leaves her in a state of mental shock, desperation and defeat. She loses her will to live. Murty decides to take her back to the village. But a spate of events during the journey back to the village leaves Rangajji physically wounded. Murty tries to take control of the situation, but a small boy that he is, he fails. The climax of the film shows Rangajji in an unconscious state lying in the police station, while Murty afraid the police might arrest him for murder makes a desperate getaway.

But, Naranappa was a rebel who fought against Brahminism, who ate meat, consumed liquor and also, married a Dasi (a prostitute). Since, he doesn't have any family, there is some confusion as to who will do the last rites and fire the funeral pyre. Praneshacharya, the head of the Agrahara, a devout and learned Brahmin, is tasked with providing the solution.
